Here we go... I find that many of our local restaurants are tops. But when it comes to the best, there are a few that come to mind. Of course, the list is subjective to ones own taste. But these restaurants on this list are sure to be amongst the top that anyone should check out. Lancaster County over the past few years has certainly come into it's own for being known as a foodie haven. We grow the food, butcher the meat, make the cheese, churn the butter, make the cakes... I think you get the point. We are all about food. So when you go to a restaurant in Lancaster County, there is a good chance that the food actually is from Lancaster County.

The Five Best Lancaster County Restaurants
1. Checkers Bistro –
I have a special place in my heart for this restaurant. All you need to do is sit at the bar and talk with the ladies and your day is perfect! And the duck tacos as an appetizer are the harbinger of an excellent meal. You can’t go wrong, time and time again. Their menu is limited; this assures quality. Be assured however that there is something on here for everyone. The seasonal additions are wonderful.
2. Avanti Osteria –
Who wants a little French, influenced Italian food? This is by far the best Italian restaurant in Lancaster County. The food is amazing and is reminiscent of food from the Piedmont region of Italy. It’s really tasty and brings you back to the old country each and every time. I suggest this restaurant when you want a European Influenced meal.
3. Aussie and the Fox –
This is a special place with a special vibe. The food is Australian influenced and truly unique. The bartender has been chosen as one of the top bartenders in the country. The menu has such a unique flavor that you'll have to visit a couple of times to assure you enjoy the many elements that it has to offer.
4. The Log Cabin –
Do you need a special night out? This is the place. Reminiscent of an old steak house this log cabin themed restaurant has many nooks and crannies to spend a romantic evening. Their Crab and Avocado Appetizer is really special. Service is excellent and the desserts are tops.
5. Carr's -
Carr, who is a proud Lancaster County native, offers a menu which is simple, direct, yet fine-edged, with respect for local suppliers of fresh meats, vegetables, fruit and fowl. This is the Gran daddy of them all in Lancaster County. Take time to make an evening out of this one.
