5 Best Lancaster County Summer Events
1. New Holland Concert Band and Fireworks –
You want that slice of Americana? . We have right here for you in New Holland. The summer arts series is presenting the famous New Holland Band at the park just minutes from the Harvest Moon. Enjoy an evening of patriotic music and more along with great food and the local flavor. Don't forget, the fireworks follow and they are really good! Event begins at 7 pm on July 4th and goes until fireworks are complete.
2. Lancaster Barnstormers –
This is our local minor league baseball team and what a treat. Watching the minor leagues is like stepping back in time and remembering what it was like to enjoy a game and not have to think about the money you laid out for it. The stadium is fairly new for our team is as well, only about 10 years old. This event goes on throughout the summer and is sure to be a great part of your time here in Lancaster. Plan to attend when they have fireworks.
3. Civil War Days –
Landis Valley Museum has always been a guest favorite. This time around they are showing what life was like here in Lancaster during the Civil War. Although a bit of a drive from Gettysburg, Lancaster County sure does have it's Civil War history. Be sure to allow extra time at the museum to explore and research the beginnings of German Culture here in Lancaster. This event is on July 20 and the 21.
4. Grease Sing-a-long –
Those, ah... Saummmmer NIiiiiights; Tell me more, Tell me more! Who whats to go to a Grease Sing-a-long? I bet you can even convince your innkeeper to go along. This events is over the course of 2 nights on August 9 and 10. The Grease Sing-a-long is being held at Prima. For those wanting the total experience, this is what you've been waiting for. Bring your friends to this one. It truly will be a night to remember.
5. New Holland Summer Fest –
The summer would not be complete without the wonderful smokey smell of the New Holland Summer Fest. The last weekend in August on the 23 and 24, is when the fun begins. The park lights up with blue grass music, a BBQ competition , great eats and just a slice of old time fun. Make a weekend out of it and enjoy that small town vibe when visiting this weekend. You'll be sure to go home with great memories.
Bonus Event –
Kutztown Summer Festival June 29 through July 7. This event although not in Lancaster is sure to please and bring to you a little bit of PA Dutch lifestyle. It's an old timey faire with all kinds of things from quilt making, to wood carving to blacksmithing and everything in between. You'll love stepping back in time with the smells and taste of yesterday. Kutztown is only about 45 minutes away. Make a day out of it. You'll be sure to enjoy.
