Nestled in Lancaster County,
in the heart of the quaint town of New Holland,
Pennsylvania, you'll find the newest addition
to this area's fine selection of small guest
houses. At the Harvest Moon B&B, European
hospitality joins forces with American ingenuity
in creating an inviting refuge you will
find yourself returning to time and again.
Hosts Marlies and Carl Kosko have finally
found the opportunity to bring together
their years of
varied experience by opening the Harvest
Moon in PA.
Marlies, a native of Germany,
is a member of the fourth generation of
the Hornsteiner family to own and run the
Gasthof Mulhauser, a delightful inn located
by the famed ski slopes of Bavaria. She
began her auspicious career as an Innkeeper
serving bread to guests at the Inn's restaurant
while very young. Later Marlies studied
cooking and
hotel management before traveling to the
United States to work in the restaurant
of a renowned coastal New England Inn. There
she met a talented young chef named Carl
Kosko.
Carl grew up in Maryland
and attended the famed Rhode Island School
of Design (RISD) cooking school. Upon graduation
he was hired by the aforementioned Inn and
soon became the youngest head chef in the
restaurant's history. Within a few years
he turned the restaurant into an award-winning
highly acclaimed venue. He continued his
career gathering more info at the Inn by
adding hotel management to his resume.
Meanwhile, Marlies and
Carl worked on a few creations of their
own--Nathaniel in 1994, Sarah in 1995 and
Benjamin in 1998. And now, New England's
loss is Lancaster County's gain with the
birth of their newest creation: the Harvest
Moon.
